The California Assembly's Environmental Safety and Toxic Materials Committee is voting on SB 1066, which could double the cost of effective, federally mandated marine flares for boaters. SB 1066 has passed the California Senate and is now under consideration in the Assembly.
It is imperative that the boating community has access to affordable marine flares to comply with U.S. Coast Guard requirements and to protect boaters on inland and coastal waters. SB 1066 will effectively raise the cost of the three leading combustible marine flares from $38.99 to $77.99, a 100% price increase. These cost increases will force many boaters to use alternatives to combustible flares, which are less visible and therefore less effective.
With 840 miles of coastline, California is a hub for offshore recreational boating and fishing. To provide a high level of safety and abide by state mandates, boaters must have affordable access to marine flares.
Tell the California Assembly: Oppose SB 1066

Dana Point Boater Association:

While the Association focuses on many issues presented to recreational boaters in Dana Point Harbor, one of the more significant efforts will be what the County of Orange refers to as the "Dana Point Harbor Revitalization Plan". The Association’s membership are boaters & non-boaters who are interested in and committed to helping promote, develop, and implement the best Dana Point Harbor Revitalization Plan. This is accomplished by working with ALL Stakeholders i.e. Boaters, OC Dana Point Harbor, County of Orange, Harbor Merchant's, City of Dana Point, Department of Boating and Waterways, South Coast Water District, California Coastal Commission and other County and Government Agencies. It is our mission (DPBA) to involve all boaters and make sure our needs, wants, and ideas are heard and acted on. Together we can have a positive impact going forward for the next 50 years.
