OC Dana Point Harbor Boat Traffic Study (Channel Narrowing Study): This document was prepared by Moffatt & Nichol who is under contract to Project Dimensions Inc who are under contract to the Dana Point Harbor Department. The document studies the possible positive and negative impacts of narrowing the main channel on the inner harbor (both East & West Marina Basins).
Dana Point Harbor Department Presentation 3.12.08. During this meeting the Harbor Department presented a total of 5 alternatives for possible waterside layouts. The Harbor department also launched a process where boaters can vote on the desired solution. At there best, the alternatives offer a solution that would allow for an increase of 30 slips, at there worst we would lose 477 slips. Members of the community have until 3.31.08 to register their vote of the preferred solution.
OC Dana Point Harbor New Marina Slip Attrition Policy Letter/Notice June 4, 2007:
OC Dana Point Harbor New Marina Slip Assignment Guideline / Notice.
1. Existing slip tenants, who signed a boat slip License Agreement or Maritime Wharfage Agreement prior to June 15, 2007, will be provided the opportunity to request a general slip location in the new Harbor layout for the same size slip that they occupied prior to construction. Once construction is completed, slip assignments will be made based upon their length of stay / tenancy.
2. Waitlist applicants may be offered a temporary slip if/when one becomes available after June 15, 2007.
Acceptance or non-acceptance of this temporary slip will not impact the applicant's position on the waitlist.

The OC Dana Point Harbor Department completed routine maintenance dredging and beach nourishment in February 2009. During the six-month project, several feet of sand was removed from the top of Baby Beach and replaced by 6,000 cubic yards of newly dredged sand from the build-up along the breakwater. Additionally, 48,000 cubic yards of sand from the build-up along the breakwater was piped to Capo Beach through a two-mile pipeline as part of the Beach Nourishment Program. The dredged sand improved the appearance and quality of sand on both of these beaches. Planning has already begun for the next Maintenance Dredge Project, scheduled for 2013-2014.
The Department hosted an information meeting on September 10, 2008 to familiarize the harbor community with the project. To view the Power Point presentation, click here.
